Both men bring with them a track record of being pro hemp, which is the solution to many of the problems we are dealing with.

Last week, Vice President-Elect Biden and I began the process of announcing our economic team. Today, we are pleased to name another key member of this team: our nominee for Secretary of Commerce, my friend, Governor Bill Richardson.

With each passing day, the work our team has begun, developing plans to revive our economy, becomes more urgent. Earlier this week, we learned that the U.S. economy has been in recession since December of 2007 and that our manufacturing output is at a 26 year low -- two stark reminders of the magnitude of the challenges we face.

But while I know rebuilding our economy won’t be easy -- and it won’t happen overnight -- I also know this: right now, somewhere in America, a small business is at work on the next big idea. A scientist is on the cusp of the next breakthrough discovery. An entrepreneur is sketching plans for the startup that will revolutionize an industry. Right now, across America, the finest products in the world are rolling off our assembly lines. And the proudest, most determined, most productive workers in the world are on the job -- some, already on their second shift of the day; many, putting in longer hours than ever before.

After nearly two years traveling across this country, meeting with workers, visiting businesses large and small, I am more confident than ever before that we have everything we need to renew our economy -- we have the ingenuity and technology, the skill and commitment -- we just need to put it to work. It’s time to not just address our immediate economic threats, but to start laying the groundwork for long-term economic prosperity -- to help American businesses grow and thrive at home, and expand our efforts to promote American enterprise around the world.

This work is the core mission of the Secretary of Commerce. And with his breadth and depth of experience in public life, Governor Richardson is uniquely suited for this role as a leading economic diplomat for America.

During his time in state government and Congress, and in two tours of duty in the cabinet, Bill has seen from just about every angle what makes our economy work and what keeps it from working better.

As Governor of New Mexico, Bill showed how government can act as a partner to support our businesses, helping create 80,000 new jobs. And under his leadership, New Mexico saw the lowest unemployment rate in decades.

Voting Day - Jack Cafferty Was Right - No ID Provisional Ballot

Voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, priceless.

In the photo above, I blotted out some information, is the paperwork, warning red papers, as part of voting in Lake Havasu City, Arizona without adequate ID.

I just got back from voting and all I can say is Jack Cafferty of CNN was right. When I asked I was told he didn't know what he was talking about. As usual Jack Cafferty was right. The ID law is designed to discourage 'little old ladies' who don't drive from voting.

We are truly second class citizens who can only cast a provisional ballot and hope it's counted. There are folks without ID who didn't bother.

I have to say it again. Voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, priceless.

Why I'm Voting For Barack Obama For President

The boxes I fit into are Christian, Black, female, over 54, computerized, independent, hippie American.

I've been accused of supporting Barack Obama for president because of his race. We've already had at least 5 Black presidents, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, Harding and Coolidge, according to Dr. Leroy Vaughn, MD, MBA and historian, in his book BLACK PEOPLE AND THEIR PLACE IN WORLD HISTORY.

I assure you that race is not a deciding factor in who I am supporting for the position of President of the United States. I have a history of voting for White men in past presidential elections. Race was not a factor then, and it's not a factor now.

The position of president, especially in this, the final step in the transformation from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, cleaning this mess up, is a job way too important to judge based on race.

I am voting for Obama because of:


Obama's sponsorship of industrial hemp and statement that he will not jail sick people for using hemp.

Obama is computer literate.


Obama was not a spokesman for the Iraq war.


Obama is pro choice and not in favor of sending women back to coat hangers.


Obama is not a long time member in good standing of the industrial/military/congressional complex, responsible for 9/11 as an inside job. At the time Obama was not part of the federal government.


McCain would not even talk with a hunger striker Blair Gadsby outside his Phoenix office about the events of 9/11.

When I called McCain's office about World Trade Center Illness shortly after 9/11, I was told Sen. Clinton was handling it. That was a lie for years.

911 Truth Hunger Striker - Topic for Town Hall Meeting

Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama should discuss what really happened on 9/11 in their town hall meetings over the summer. Blair Gadsby, in the webeo above and Arizona State Senator Karen Johnson, in the webeo below, should ask the opening questions.

Senator McCain has been a big backer of the 19 lucky Arabs story. The majority of the American people know that 9/11 was an inside job.

It is best to strike when the iron is hot. Phoenix activist Blair Gadsby, a professor of Religious Studies, is in the 10th day of his hunger strike regarding 9/11 truth. He's striking outside of Senator McCain's office in Phoenix.

State Sen. Karen Johnson, a Mesa Republican, delivered a letter to McCain's Senate office Tuesday asking that he sit down with Scottsdale activist Blair Gadsby and a pair of leading members of the 9/11 Truth Movement to consider alternative explanations for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. Gadsby's fast outside McCain's Senate office entered its 10th day today."

A recent letter to the editor asked for evidence of my claims regarding the tragedy of 9/11. Below I present some points that are presently known. I won’t be able to convince anyone who doesn’t want to be convinced, but for those who are willing to deal with factual evidence, consider the following:

• 37 different people reported explosions in the basement of the World Trade Center Towers before the first plane hit, and seismic equipment recorded both the explosions and the impacts. In addition, people were injured by the explosions in the basement, providing well-documented evidence. Yet this evidence is ignored.

•The media and government have promoted the “pancake theory” as the cause of the collapse of the Twin Towers — that is, fire weakened the steel support beams, causing the upper floors to collapse. Then the weight of the collapsing floors above caused the floors below to collapse. This theory is not consistent with scientific principles or the facts. Frank Legge, who has a doctorate in chemistry, and Tony Szamboti, a mechanical engineer, reported in December in the Journal of 9/11 Studies: “It appears therefore that the official concept of a free-fall collapse of the upper portion through the initiation story, due to heat effects from fire, is a fantasy. If the temperature did become high enough for collapse to occur” — and everyone agrees that it did not — “it could not have happened in the observed manner. In particular it could not have been sudden and thus could not have produced the velocity, and hence the momentum and kinetic energy, upon which the official story depends for the second stage of collapse.”

• The theory that the buildings collapsed due to controlled-demolition explosives, however, is consistent with scientific principles and the facts. The “demolition” theory, in fact, is the only one which scientists have been able to corroborate. That is, “… all observations are in accord with the use of explosives in a time sequence.” (Legge and Szamboti, December, Journal of 9/11 Studies.)

• Peer-reviewed reports indicate that the masses of dust particles created by the disaster contained tiny pieces of metal that had been exposed to both extreme temperatures (higher than could have been produced by a burning office or burning airplane fuel) and extreme pressure (such as an explosion) that would fragment material into minute particles. Official reports ignore this.

• In December, physicist Steven Jones announced the discovery of thermite chips in World Trade Center dust samples. The chemical composition of these chips are an exact match to known thermite samples used in controlled demolitions — further corroboration that explosive devices were involved.

• Steel support beams recovered from the site of the World Trade Center exhibit cut edges that are characteristic of thermite used to slice steel support beams in building demolitions but are not characteristic of steel beams that have been burned in a fire.

When the 9/11 Commission Report was finally released, it was woefully inadequate. It never even addressed the collapse of Building 7, for example. Former FBI Director Louis Freeh has stated that there are inaccuracies in the report and unanswered questions. Even the two chairmen of the 9/11 Commission — Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton — have accused the CIA of “obstructing” the commission, and one commissioner, U.S. Sen. Max Cleland, resigned, stating that the commission was “compromised.”

Private individuals with specialized knowledge — scientists, engineers, architects, demolitions experts, and the firefighters and police officers who were on the scene on Sept. 11, 2001, have tested theories, constructed models, provided testimony, and dug for the truth about what really happened on 9/11. They have been ignored by media and the government.

The mainstream media parrot the less-than-credible conclusions of the 9/11 Commission without giving any thought to the many omissions and inconsistencies. In a truly free country, the press would ask hard questions and do real investigating, but this is not happening. Only the alternative media, such as Internet news sites, have done any solid investigating.

The events of 9/11 led immediately to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and passage of the Patriot Act (what double-speak), both of which deprive us of Constitutional rights and have brought us to the brink of becoming a police state. Homeland Security is currently trying to force a national ID card down our throats, although some governors have politely (or not so politely) told Secretary Michael Chertoff where he can go.

If we’re going to sacrifice our freedom, there ought to be a very good reason, and we have a right to know what that is. It isn’t enough for government to say, “Trust me.” It’s way past time for Congress to authorize an independent investigation of 9/11 that will consider the mass of new evidence that has been gathered in the past seven years. The longer they stall, the more suspicions grow.

National Security - Senator Barack Obama's Analysis

Five years ago today, President George W. Bush launched a war that should never have been authorized based on faulty premises and bad intelligence.

This war has now lasted longer than World War I, World War II, or the Civil War.

Nearly four thousand Americans have given their lives. Thousands more have been wounded. Even under the best-case scenarios, this war will cost American taxpayers well over a trillion dollars.

And where are we for all of this sacrifice?

We are less safe and less able to shape events abroad. We are divided at home, and our alliances around the world have been strained. The threats of a new century have roiled the waters of peace and stability, and yet America remains anchored in Iraq.

I am running for President because it's time to turn the page on a failed ideology and a fundamentally flawed political strategy, so that we can make pragmatic judgments to keep our country safe.

That's what I did when I stood up and opposed this war from the start and said that we needed to finish the fight against al Qaeda. And that's what I'll do as President of the United States.

Senator Clinton says that she and Senator McCain have passed a "Commander-in-Chief test" -- not because of the judgments they've made, but because of the years they've spent in Washington.

She made a similar argument when she said her vote for war was based on her experience at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.

But here is the stark reality: there is a security gap in this country -- a gap between the rhetoric of those who claim to be tough on national security, and the reality of growing insecurity caused by their decisions.

The judgment that matters most on Iraq -- and on any decision to deploy military force -- is the judgment made first.

If you believe we are fighting the right war, then the problems we face are purely tactical in nature. That is what Senator McCain wants to discuss -- tactics. What he and the Administration have failed to present is an overarching strategy: how the war in Iraq enhances our long-term security, or will in the future.

That's why this Administration cannot answer the simple question posed by Senator John Warner in hearings last year: Are we safer because of this war? And that is why Senator McCain can argue -- as he did last year -- that we couldn't leave Iraq because violence was up, and then argue this year that we can't leave Iraq because violence is down.

When you have no overarching strategy, there is no clear definition of success.

Success comes to be defined as the ability to maintain a flawed policy indefinitely. Here is the truth: fighting a war without end will not force the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future. And fighting in a war without end will not make the American people safer.

When I am Commander-in-Chief, I will set a new goal on Day One: I will end this war. Not because politics compels it. Not because our troops cannot bear the burden -- as heavy as it is. But because it is the right thing to do for our national security, and it will ultimately make us safer.

Here are the core elements of my strategy to address our critical national security challenges in the 21st century:

End the war in Iraq, removing our troops at a pace of 1 to 2 combat brigades per month;
Finally finish the fight against the Taliban, root out al Qaeda and invest in the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan, while making aid to the Pakistani government conditional;
Act aggressively to stop nuclear proliferation and to secure all loose nuclear materials around the world;

Double our foreign assistance to cut extreme poverty in half;

Invest in a clean energy future to wean the U.S. off of foreign oil and to lead the world against the threat of global climate change;

Rebuild our military capability by increasing the number of soldiers, marines, and special forces troops, and insist on adequate training and time off between deployments;

Renew American diplomacy by talking to our adversaries as well as our friends; increasing the size of the Foreign Service and the Peace Corps; and creating an America's Voice Corps.

We are at a defining moment in our history.

Was Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright Wrong?

Thank you Senator Obama for adding thought to chaos to this drama about Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright. You have the courage to not distance yourself from your pastor, and the right to agree or disagree with what he said.

Our rights are gone.

If serving in the United States Marines does not give one the right to free speech in America, then nobody has it anymore. Am I the only one who finds that sad?

Maybe I could understand the uproar if Rev. Dr. Wright had told one untruth in his sermons.

Rev. Dr. Wright should not have censored his emotions after 9/11. He said what was on many minds from all races. 9/11 was an inside job and what our government has been doing to other nations, they did to us. Rev. Dr. Wright, like many of the rest of us, will not sit quietly in the back and be silent on the issue so the media can ignore the call for new 9/11 hearings.

Is it not a sin to murder innocent people in other countries in order for us to feel safe? How can we say it's o.k. to murder-sin in the name of government, but for hemp, you can get 7 years?

Did America blink after dropping bombs, some very big, some very many, some big and many on people who never did us any harm? We're suppose to have the right to do that karma free?

As a nation, America is in trouble. We have been integrated into a burning house and it is our responsibility to speak truth. It's the only way to put out the fires. If America is ever to be blessed again, we must first atone, or as Dennis Kucinich said at an earlier debate, repair the damage done. Together we can do it and build a solid world.

The first thing we need to do is restore the right of free speech to the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, the preacher with the courage to tell the truth.

We know the truth and the truth is setting us free. Rev. Dr. Wright is right.
